Do I need special tools to install stihl chainsaw chains?
Most users only need the bar nuts wrench supplied with the saw and a flat-head screwdriver or scrench for tension adjustment. After seating the chain around the drive sprocket and bar tip, tighten the bar nuts until the chain can still be pulled freely by hand yet does not sag below the bar rail. Always recheck tension after the first few cuts as new chains stretch slightly during break-in.
